Business Development
Experienced

Deeplocal is hiring a Director of Business Development to help with the development of new clients and projects that align with the strategic growth objectives of the business. Efforts should be focused across all types of work and clients, including semi-permanent and permanent spaces (Themed Entertainment, Workplace, Executive Briefing Centers, Retail, Conferences, Museums,  etc), events and brand activations with net new clients, and projects that come through other agencies. This role will play a crucial role in building relationships, prospecting, and ultimately expanding our client base to drive revenue growth. Your primary responsibility will be to identify potential customers, understand their unique business needs, and articulate how Deeplocal can address those needs effectively. This role will report to Deeplocal’s Managing Director and collaborate with marketing, creative, and production team members.

The ideal candidate will bring a robust network of client-side contacts in these categories, and excel at forming new relationships. This person should be comfortable in the weeds - helping to make presentation decks, responding to inbound emails, and developing high level project plans based on an understanding of Deeplocal resources and how they could best contribute to projects. Upfront client conversations often require a ballpark budget and understanding of Deeplocal’s production process, so candidates with a background in Account Services/Project Management/Production will be considered.

The Director of Business Development will be responsible for:

  • Brand Representation  – Learn and demonstrate a strong understanding of Deeplocal’s capabilities, process and positioning within our industry; know what our brand would (and wouldn’t) do, and how our brand would (and wouldn’t) act; and communicate this in spades in the marketplace.
  • Prospecting and Strategy - Analyze market conditions, identify target customer segments, and create a comprehensive plan to effectively reach and convert potential customers.
  • Pitching – Present Deeplocal’s offering in a compelling way that wins new work and builds enthusiasm for the brand. Work collaboratively to bring in the right stakeholders to the conversation at the right time.
  • Relationship Strengthening - Establish and grow meaningful, authentic relationships with senior level decision makers who could potentially become new clients. Understand what individual clients are looking for in a partner, and understand their brief with the ability to read between the lines. Use a clear, direct communication style to manage relationships into new client contracts.
  • Strategic selling - Help to sell concepts and experiences that make sense for both the client and Deeplocal. Tactfully communicate quotes and budget implications to clients.
  • Business Brief Development for Pitches - Ask the right questions to understand clients’ goals and objectives. Write and share briefs with the creative and strategy teams that lead to well-informed ideas.
  • Pitch Deck Review - Provide input and review pitch decks and budgets. Support creative and technical team leads as necessary to finalize materials for pitches.
  • Scope of Work Input, Review, and Approval - Support Producers as they draft scopes of work for first-time Client projects. Carefully review and edit scopes of work prior to Client review.
  • CRM Management – Maintain an organized, detail-oriented process for capturing and tracking sales leads along the funnel within Deeplocal’s CRM platform.
  • Reporting and Analysis – Track and report on key metrics, providing regular updates to leadership on progress and performance. Conduct post-mortem analyses of closed deals to identify success factors and areas for improvement, using data-driven insights to refine sales strategies.

Desired Skills

  • 10+ years experience in business development, growth marketing, or account/project management, preferably in experiential, immersive marketing (or a related role within the architectural field). We are looking for individuals with a network of contacts.
  • Experience with business financials and forecasts.
  • Excited by new challenges and a growth mindset.
  • Comfortable with developing strategies and implementing them; eventually, this role will be supported by additional sales & marketing team members, but you’ll be wearing many hats at first.
  • Creative thinker and problem solver; flexible and adaptable.
  • Highly organized with exceptional communication skills and attention to detail.
  • Exceptional writing (short- and long-form)  and storytelling skills.
  • Proficiency with software tools including Google Workspace (G Suite), email marketing platforms (Mailchimp or similar), and CRMs (Hubspot, Sugar, etc).
  • Proficiency with paid search platforms (Google Ads and similar) a plus.

Location

This position is open to remote candidates outside of Pittsburgh, PA, but candidates must be willing to travel to Pittsburgh and/or client locations as required for sales efforts. Preference will be given to candidates located in Pittsburgh, or in close proximity to a client hub (NYC, LA, SF).

Individual compensation varies based on job related factors, including location, business needs, level of responsibility, experience, and qualifications. Why are you being asked to complete this form?

We are a federal contractor or subcontractor. The law requires us to provide equal employment opportunity to qualified people with disabilities. Completing this form is voluntary, and we hope that you will choose to do so. Your answer is confidential. No one who makes hiring decisions will see it. Your decision to complete the form and your answer will not harm you in any way. If you want to learn more about the law or this form, visit the U.S. Department of Labor’s Office of Federal Contract Compliance Programs (OFCCP) website at www.dol.gov/ofccp.
